Title 16 › Chapter 4— PROTECTION OF TIMBER, AND DEPREDATIONS › § 612
Secretary of the Interior may give permits to companies formed under U.S. law or under the laws of a different State or Territory. The permits must give the same rights as companies formed in the State where the permit is used if the company first follows that State’s laws to do business. Railroads do not get any extra right to cut timber on public land.
