Title 16 › Chapter 4— PROTECTION OF TIMBER, AND DEPREDATIONS › § 615a
The Secretary of the Interior can have timber on public lands in Alaska valued and can sell as much as he chooses, but never for less than that value. He sets how much each buyer may buy, and the wood must be used in Alaska unless export is allowed under section 615b. Sales are limited to what Alaska actually needs each year. Buyers must pay the local land office officer the Secretary names, who must keep the money in a separate account, report it to the Secretary, and deposit it in the U.S. Treasury.
