§6606 Authorization of Appropriations

Summary

The law provides $5,000,000 each year to the Fund for fiscal years 2025 through 2029. Each year, at least $1,510,000 must be used by the Secretary for marine turtle conservation, and of the remaining money at least 40% must go to freshwater turtle and tortoise conservation.

(a)There is authorized to be appropriated to the Fund $5,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2025 through 2029.
(b)Of the amounts made available for each fiscal year pursuant to subsection (a)—
(1)not less than $1,510,000 shall be used by the Secretary for marine turtle conservation purposes in accordance with this chapter; and
(2)of the amounts in excess of the amount described in paragraph (1), not less than 40 percent shall be used by the Secretary for freshwater turtle and tortoise conservation purposes in accordance with this chapter.
