§698j Hunting, Fishing, and Trapping in Big Cypress Preserve and Addition Authorized in Accordance with Applicable Federal and State Laws; Consultation with Appropriate State Agency Prior to Implementation of Regulations Restricting Activities; Land Use and Retention Rights of Miccosukee and Seminole Indian Tribes

Summary

The Secretary must allow hunting, fishing, and trapping on lands and waters he manages in the preserve and the Addition under U.S. and Florida law. He may close places or times for safety, management, or to protect plants, animals, or public enjoyment, but must first consult the State agency except in emergencies. Members of the Miccosukee and Seminole tribes of Florida may continue their customary use, including subsistence hunting, fishing, trapping, and ceremonies, under reasonable rules set by the Secretary.
