Title 16 › Chapter 9B— NATIONAL FISH HATCHERY SYSTEM ENHANCEMENT › § 760aa–1
The Secretary of the Interior can accept gifts, wills, or donations of land, money, or other property for the National Fish Hatchery System. The Secretary may accept them with conditions if those conditions are legal and fit the purpose of the donation. Money gifts and money from selling donated property go into a separate Treasury account and can be spent by the Secretary without more appropriation. Gifts meant for a specific hatchery must be used only for that hatchery. If Congress provides funds and other laws allow, the Secretary may match such gifts, but the federal match cannot be more than the gift’s cash amount or the fair market value of donated property or services.
