§760d Grants for Education and Training of Personnel in the Field of Commercial Fishing

Summary

The Secretary of Commerce can give federal grants to public and nonprofit colleges and universities in the states and territories. The grants pay for education and training of people who work in commercial fishing, such as scientists, technicians, and teachers. The money must be split fairly among states and territories, and the Secretary must consider how big each area’s fishing industry is and other relevant facts. Up to $550,000 can be appropriated for the fiscal year starting July 1, 1955, and for each year after. The Secretary may create rules needed to run the grant program.
