The federal official who manages the land may lease or allow Federal land to be used as a shooting range under this law and other rules. They must not allow ranges on certain protected lands, including the National Landscape Conservation System; the National Wilderness Preservation System and related wilderness study or classified lands (wilderness‑eligible, wilderness‑suitable, primitive, or semiprimitive); national monuments (including volcanic) and national scenic areas; or parts of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, including areas being studied for addition.
