Title 16 › Chapter 12C— FORT PECK PROJECT › § 833
To improve navigation on the Missouri River, the Fort Peck dam, its power plant, and related works must be finished, kept in good repair, and run by the Secretary of the Army with supervision from the Chief of Engineers. The Bureau of Reclamation handles transmission and sale of the electricity under section 833a(a). The Secretary must provide, build, operate, maintain, and improve the equipment and facilities at Fort Peck to produce hydroelectric power as markets develop. Any power not needed to run the dam or navigation works must be delivered to the Bureau for disposition under this chapter.
