Title 17 › Chapter 12— COPYRIGHT PROTECTION AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS › § 1204
Makes it a crime for anyone who knowingly breaks sections 1201 or 1202 to get money or business advantage. A first conviction can bring up to $500,000 in fines, up to 5 years in prison, or both; later convictions up to $1,000,000 or 10 years, or both. Nonprofit libraries, archives, schools, and public broadcasters are not covered. Charges must start within 5 years of when the offense happened.
