Anyone who buys or takes as security U.S. military property—like arms, gear, ammo, clothing, or other supplies—that was issued to service members (including National Guard or Naval Militia), people serving with them, or former members, or taken from a U.S. hospital, home, or facility, while knowing or having reason to believe it came from the United States, is committing a crime. The penalty can be a fine, imprisonment not more than two years, or both.
