Title 18 › Part I— CRIMES › Chapter 49— FUGITIVES FROM JUSTICE › § 1074
Crossing state lines or going to another country to escape arrest, custody, or punishment—or to avoid testifying—after trying to or actually burning or blowing up buildings, homes, vehicles, churches, synagogues, schools, or similar property is a federal crime. You can be fined, jailed for up to five years, or both. Federal charges can be brought where the original crime was said to happen or where you were held. This does not stop a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession from charging you too.
