Stealing, misusing, or intentionally taking money or property from a tribal gaming establishment approved by the National Indian Gaming Commission is a federal crime. People who work there or are licensed to work there — officers, employees, or individual licensees — can be punished. If the value taken is $1,000 or less, the person can be fined up to $250,000, jailed up to 5 years, or both. If the value is more than $1,000, the fine can be up to $1,000,000, jail up to 20 years, or both.
