Title 18 › Part I— CRIMES › Chapter 83— POSTAL SERVICE › § 1712
Postal Service workers must not file false reports or put false entries in official records or accounts to cheat and raise their own pay or the pay of the postmaster or other employees. They also must not persuade, or try to persuade, people to mail items at their office when those items should be mailed at a different post office to boost the office’s money. If someone does this, they can be fined under federal law, jailed for up to two years, or both.
