Title 18 › Part I— CRIMES › Chapter 83— POSTAL SERVICE › § 1721
Postal Service workers who knowingly and willfully misuse postage stamps, stamped envelopes, or postal cards they were trusted with can be punished. That includes using them to pay debts or buy goods, using them as collateral, selling them for more or less than their face value or for prices different from what the Postal Service charges, selling them away from their office, inflating office receipts to boost pay, or any other sale not allowed by law or Postal Service rules. Such a worker can be fined under federal law, jailed for up to one year, or both.
