Title 18 › PART I — CRIMES › CHAPTER 95 — RACKETEERING › § 1951
Makes it a crime to stop, delay, or interfere with trade or the movement of goods by using robbery, extortion, attempts, conspiracies, or by threatening or using physical harm to people or property as part of that plan. A person who does this can be fined, jailed for up to twenty years, or both. Defines three terms in one line each: robbery — taking someone’s personal property by force or threats against them or people with them; extortion — getting property from someone with their consent because of wrongful force, threats, fear, or by abusing official power; commerce — trade or transport covered by U.S. control (including the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, trade between places inside and outside a state, and other commerce under U.S. jurisdiction). This does not change or cancel section 17 of Title 15; sections 52, 101–115, 151–166 of Title 29; or sections 151–188 of Title 45.
