Title 18 › Part I— CRIMES › Chapter 103— ROBBERY AND BURGLARY › § 2114
Attack or try to rob someone who handles U.S. mail, money, or other government property to steal it can lead to prison time. For a first offense, the person can be jailed up to 10 years. If the robber wounds the person in charge, puts that person’s life at risk by using a dangerous weapon, or is convicted again later, the sentence can be up to 25 years. Anyone who knowingly gets, keeps, hides, or sells U.S. mail, money, or property stolen this way can be jailed up to 10 years, fined under federal law, or both.
