Anyone who on purpose destroys, seriously damages, changes, moves, or tampers with a navigation aid that is kept by the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation or the Coast Guard, or is lawfully kept under Coast Guard authority, and whose action endangers or is likely to endanger a ship's safe navigation, can be punished. The penalty can be a fine under this title, up to 20 years in prison, or both.
