Federal Prison Industries may sell products to public entities to use in jails or prisons, to public entities for disaster relief or emergency response, to the government of the District of Columbia, and to certain tax-exempt organizations under Internal Revenue Code sections 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), or 501(d) that are exempt under 501(a). It may not sell office furniture to those tax-exempt organizations. office furniture — items or services for furnishing workplaces, including office, health care, school, and hospitality settings. public entity — a State, a subdivision of a State, an Indian tribe, or an agency or government-owned corporation/business of any of those. State — includes the states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the United States Virgin Islands.
