It makes it a crime to make, change, forge, or copy bonds, bids, contracts, guarantees, public records, affidavits, or similar papers to cheat the United States. It is also a crime to pass off, use, keep, send, or show those fake papers to a U.S. office or official when you know they are false. A person who does this may be fined under this title, imprisoned for up to ten years, or both.
