Title 18 › Part I— CRIMES › Chapter 31— EMBEZZLEMENT AND THEFT › § 660
If you are a president, director, officer, or manager of a company that operates as a common carrier, or an employee of that carrier riding on its vehicles while they move between states, and you steal, embezzle, take, misuse, or knowingly convert any money, funds, credits, securities, property, or assets that come from or are used in that interstate business, in whole or in part, you can be fined under federal law, jailed for up to 10 years, or both. The crime counts as happening where it first occurred and also in any district where the person took or had possession of the items. If a state court has already convicted or acquitted the person on the merits for the same acts, federal authorities cannot try the person again for those same acts.
