Title 18 › Part I— CRIMES › Chapter 39— EXPLOSIVES AND OTHER DANGEROUS ARTICLES › § 836
It is illegal to bring fireworks into a State, unless you are just moving them through on a continuous trip, if you know the fireworks will be kept, sold, used, or handled in ways the State forbids. A person who does this can be fined under federal law, jailed for up to one year, or both. Common or contract carriers, water carriers in interstate commerce, and shipments for Federal agencies are not covered. Each State’s own definition of “fireworks” is used. “State” means the States, U.S. Territories and possessions, and the District of Columbia. Effective July 1, 1954.
