Title 18 › Part I— CRIMES › Chapter 45— FOREIGN RELATIONS › § 961
You must not, while in the United States, add to the fighting power of a foreign warship that arrived here already armed and that belongs to a foreign government, colony, district, or people that is at war with another foreign power the United States is at peace with. Adding more guns, swapping for larger guns, or fitting any equipment used only for war is forbidden. Anyone who does this can be fined under federal law, jailed for up to one year, or both.
