Pre-Columbian monumental or architectural sculptures or murals that leave their country after the regulation listed them under section 2091 cannot be brought into the United States unless the country of origin gives a certificate, in a form the Secretary accepts, saying the export did not break that country’s laws. When the item is entered, the importer must show either that certificate, proof it was exported on or before the regulation’s effective date, or proof the item is not on the section 2091 list.
