Title 19 › Chapter 12— TRADE ACT OF 1974 › § 2102
Uses trade agreements that give both sides benefits to reach six goals. Those goals are to help the U.S. economy grow and create jobs; strengthen ties with other countries by keeping trade open and fair; cut trade barriers so U.S. businesses can compete fairly; reform the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade; protect and help industries, firms, workers, and communities harmed by unfair or damaging imports; open markets in nonmarket economies; and give less developed countries fair access to the U.S. market.
