Congress says the Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for African Affairs is key to growing U.S. trade and investment with sub-Saharan Africa. That job should stay in the USTR office to lead and coordinate government work, be the main contact for U.S.–Africa traders, and the USTR's advisor on Africa. The USTR must have enough staff and funds to support this role if Congress approves them.
