Title 19 › Chapter 25— CLEAN DIAMOND TRADE › § 3907
Breaking the rules about rough diamonds can bring fines or jail. A civil fine up to $10,000 may be imposed for violating or trying to violate the rules. Willful violations can bring a criminal fine up to $50,000, up to 10 years in prison for an individual, or both; corporate officers or agents who join in face the same penalties. U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement enforce these penalties and other customs laws (including seizure and forfeiture) and enforce export rules, including validating the Kimberley Process Certificate.
