Title 2 › Chapter 26— DISCLOSURE OF LOBBYING ACTIVITIES › § 1614
The Comptroller General must each year check how well lobbyists, lobbying firms, and other registrants follow the law. The check uses a random sample of public lobbying registrations and reports filed during the calendar year. By April 1 each year, the Comptroller General must send Congress a report about the prior year. The report must say how well people complied, give recommendations to improve compliance, and suggest what resources or powers the Department of Justice needs to enforce the law. The report must include compliance with section 1603(b)(3). The Comptroller General can ask registrants and listed lobbyists for documents or written information and may tell Congress if someone refuses to comply within 45 days.
