§168 Constitution of the United States; Preparation and Publication of Revised Edition; Annotations; Supplements; Decennial Editions and Supplements

Summary

The Librarian of Congress must prepare a hardbound revised book called the Constitution Annotated (published as Senate Document No. 39, Eighty-eighth Congress) that includes notes on Supreme Court decisions through the end of the Court’s October 1971 term. After the Court finishes its October terms in 1973, 1975, 1977, and 1979, the Librarian must issue small cumulative update booklets that add all Supreme Court decisions made after October 1971. After the Court’s October 1981 term, and then every tenth October term after that, the Librarian must publish a new hardbound decennial revised edition with all Court decisions to that date. After the Court’s October 1983 term, and after each later October term that falls in an odd-numbered year whose final digit is not 1, the Librarian must issue cumulative update booklets to the most recent decennial hardbound edition that include decisions not already in that edition.
