Until the law changes, the House can pay a one-time payment from its accounts, on vouchers signed by the chairman of the Committee on House Oversight, to the widow, widower, or legal heirs of any Architect of the Capitol employee who was working for the House when they died. The payment must follow the Committee’s rules and cannot be more than what would be paid to the widow, widower, or legal heirs of a Senate employee with similar length of service and similar duties.
