Title 2 › Chapter 29— CAPITOL POLICE › Subchapter I— ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION › Part A— General › § 1905
Money the United States Capitol Police get back for providing law enforcement help must be put into the U.S. Treasury. This includes payments from federal, state, local, or District of Columbia agencies, and payments from other sources when the help was for an activity not sponsored by Congress. The money is credited to the Capitol Police’s appropriation for general expenses or for security enhancements. The Chief of the United States Capitol Police can spend those funds for any allowed purpose, including overtime pay tied to that help, and the funds stay available until spent. This rule started on July 24, 2001, and applies to fiscal year 2001 and every fiscal year after.
