Title 2 › Chapter 29— CAPITOL POLICE › Subchapter II— POWERS AND DUTIES › § 1978
The Chief of the Capitol Police must not send officers outside the areas where the Capitol Police are allowed to work unless two things happen first: the Chief gives advance notice about the expected costs to the Committee on House Administration of the House of Representatives, the Committee on Rules and Administration of the Senate, and the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations, and the Capitol Police Board approves the deployment. This rule does not apply when officers are sent to deal with an imminent threat or emergency, to gather intelligence, or to provide protective services. It applies to fiscal year 2005 and each succeeding fiscal year.
