Title 2 › Chapter 30— OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF CAPITOL COMPLEX › Subchapter I— HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES › § 2002
The Chief Administrative Officer of the House may get buildings or facilities for House use in an emergency, as long as money is available. They can lease, buy, or use another type of agreement, including a written deal with a federal agency that controls a building. The House Office Building Commission must approve the acquisition. The Chief Administrative Officer can make agreements about using the building, such as policing arrangements with the United States Capitol Police or others, and care and maintenance deals with the Architect of the Capitol or others. The Architect may take steps needed to carry out those deals and, with approval from the House Committee on Appropriations, may transfer maintenance funds to the Chief Administrative Officer to cover acquisition costs. This applies starting in fiscal year 2002 and each year after.
