The Architect of the Capitol must appoint the Chief Executive Officer for Visitor Services. The CEO reports straight to the Architect and is overseen by the Committee on Rules and Administration of the Senate and the Committee on House Administration of the House of Representatives. If the Architect removes the CEO, the Architect must immediately notify those two committees and the Appropriations Committees of both the House and Senate and give the reasons. The CEO’s pay must match the annual pay of the Deputy Architect of the Capitol. The person who was serving as CEO under section 1806 on October 20, 2008, is the first CEO appointed under this rule.
