Summary

Gift Shop Account money is available at any time for the Architect of the Capitol to spend if the Chief Executive Officer recommends it. It must be used first to run the gift shops, such as for supplies, inventory, equipment, and other costs, and to repay any accounts that paid gift shop employees’ salaries. If money remains after those uses, the Architect may use it for operating the Capitol Visitor Center, but only after consulting the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, the House Committee on House Administration, and the Committees on Appropriations of the House of Representatives and Senate. Money in the Miscellaneous Receipts Account is also available at any time for the Architect to spend, if the Chief Executive Officer recommends it, for operations of the Capitol Visitor Center after the same consultations with those four committees.
