Title 2 › Chapter 9A— OFFICE OF LAW REVISION COUNSEL › § 285b
Prepare and send to the Committee on the Judiciary, one title at a time, a full revision and cleanup of the federal laws so they match Congress’s original purpose and can be enacted as official law. Regularly review all public laws and recommend repealing parts that are old, unnecessary, or replaced. Produce and publish new editions of the United States Code (both titles already enacted as positive law and those not yet), with yearly cumulative supplements showing new laws. Put new laws into the right places in the Code when those titles are not yet official positive law. Update titles that already are positive law so they stay current. Produce new editions of the District of Columbia Code with annual supplements, through publication of the fifth annual cumulative supplement to the 1973 edition. Give the Judiciary Committee advice and help on revising and organizing federal statutes when asked.
