The chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee can move money during any fiscal year between the committee’s salary account and its expense account (both are in the Senate’s contingent fund). The moved money can be spent the same way as the other funds in the account. The chair must tell the Senate Disbursing Office in writing when transfers are made. This rule took effect October 1, 1998, and applies to fiscal years starting on or after that date.
