When the Secretary of the Senate pays a job and, before the effective date of these amendments, the law had set either the exact pay rate or the maximum pay for that job, then after that date the President pro tempore must set the job’s pay or its maximum pay. The amount set by the President pro tempore must not exceed the maximum under section 4575(f) of this title.
