When a Member of Congress, an elected officer of either House, or an employee covered under paragraphs (2)–(5) of 18 U.S.C. §207(e) leaves office or stops working, the Clerk of the House (after consulting the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct) or the Secretary of the Senate must tell that person the start and end dates of the bans that apply under 18 U.S.C. §207(e). The Clerk (for House people) and the Secretary (for Senate people) must also post those notices on their public websites in a format that, as far as technically possible, can be searched, sorted, and downloaded.
