§5505 Payments From Applicable Accounts of House of Representatives

Summary

No payments can be made from certain House accounts unless the House Committee on Oversight approves them. When the committee signs off on a payment voucher the way it requires, that payment is final and must be accepted by all government departments and officers. Applicable accounts — accounts for committee salaries and expenses (not the Appropriations Committee), the House computer support office, and allowances/expenses for Members, House officers, and administrative and support offices. Member — a Representative, a Delegate, or a Resident Commissioner to Congress.
