Title 2 › Chapter 17— CONGRESSIONAL BUDGET OFFICE › § 610
The Director of the Congressional Budget Office can create a program, starting November 12, 2001, to pay all or part of an employee’s student loans to help recruit or keep qualified staff. The Director may use rules like those in title 5, section 5379 to run the program. Payments are limited to $6,000 per employee each calendar year and $40,000 per employee in total. The Office will not repay amounts an employee already paid before signing an agreement. Any money repaid or recovered must go back into the Office’s salaries and expenses account. The program applies to fiscal year 2002 and every fiscal year after.
