If the Senate Majority or Minority Leader asks in writing, the Secretary must, in any fiscal year, transfer the amount they name from their salaries and office accounts to the Senate contingent fund’s "Miscellaneous Items." Each leader may spend that money for necessary expenses, approve payments from it, and the Secretary may advance money to cover those expenses.
