Each year, starting with the year that ends September 30, 1985, Congress can give extra money from the Senate contingent fund to the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper to buy, lease, trade, maintain, and run vehicles. The money can pay for one vehicle for each listed officer (Vice President; President pro tempore; Majority and Minority Leaders; Majority and Minority Whips; attending physician; and one under Senate Resolution 90 of the 100th Congress), whatever number is needed to carry the mail, vehicles for the offices of the Secretary of the Senate, the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper, the Secretary for the Majority, and the Secretary for the Minority, and any other vehicles specifically allowed by law.
