§10004 Uses of Funds by Institutions of Higher Education

Summary

Public state colleges and universities that get money under this law must use it for teaching and general campus costs, to help avoid raising in‑state tuition and fees, or to update, renovate, or repair buildings mainly used for instruction, research, or student housing, including upgrades that meet a green building standard. They may not use the money to grow their endowment. They also may not spend it on routine maintenance, on renovating stadiums or other paid‑admission event venues, or on buildings used for religious worship, religious instruction, or where a substantial part of the use supports a religious mission.
