§1098cc Tuition Refunds or Credits for Members of Armed Forces

Title 20 › Chapter 28— HIGHER EDUCATION RESOURCES AND STUDENT ASSISTANCE › Subchapter IV— STUDENT ASSISTANCE › Part G–1— Higher Education Relief Opportunities for Students › § 1098cc

Summary

Congress urges colleges and other postsecondary schools to give a full refund or an equal credit to students who could not finish part of a term, or did not get credit, because they were called to active duty or active service. If students withdraw for that reason, schools should try to avoid making them delay re-enrollment or reapply, and should be flexible with application and other administrative deadlines. A full refund means returning required tuition and fees, or giving a credit of the same amount toward future tuition and fees.
