§1161i–5 State Application and Report

Summary

States seeking a grant must apply to the Secretary at the time and in the way the Secretary asks, and give any information the Secretary reasonably requires. The application must describe who is on the State Task Force; what activities the grant will fund; other federal, state, local, and private resources that will support the Task Force’s work; whether the State has training, early childhood educator preparation, professional development, pay initiatives, and career systems for early childhood education; and what resources exist to support those efforts. Within two years after getting a grant, the State must send a report to the Secretary. The report must explain what other resources will be used with the grant to develop or expand professional development and career activities; how the State Advisory Council (or similar body) will coordinate state and local support for the professional development and career system; and how the State Task Force will use the grant funds and carry out the activities listed in section 1161i–4.
