§1161i–5 State Application and Report

Summary

States that want a grant under this program must apply to the Secretary at the time and in the way the Secretary asks, and give any extra information requested. The application must describe five things: who is on the State Task Force; what the grant money will be used for; what federal, state, local, and private resources will support the Task Force; whether the State has training, educator preparation, professional development, pay initiatives, and career systems for early childhood educators; and what resources the State has for those efforts. Within two years after getting a grant, a State must send a report to the Secretary. The report must explain three things: what other resources will be used with the grant to build or expand early childhood education professional development and career activities; how the State Advisory Council or a similar state group will coordinate state and local activities that support the system; and how the State Task Force will use the grant funds and carry out its assigned activities.
