People can ask a court to reopen or join a court-ordered school assignment. Parents or guardians of children sent to public school under a court order, parents of similar children, and school agencies covered by a court order or a Title VI desegregation plan that was in effect on August 21, 1974 may do this if the travel time or distance threatens the child’s health or seriously harms their education.
