Title 20 › Chapter 11— NATIONAL ARBORETUM › § 195
The Secretary of Agriculture can accept gifts or property, including land and personal items, given to benefit the National Arboretum or to help it do its work. For federal income, estate, and gift tax rules, property accepted this way counts as a gift to the United States. Cash gifts, the net money from selling accepted property, and insurance payments not used to repair gift property must be put into a separate Treasury fund and can only be spent when the Secretary of Agriculture orders it.
