Summary

To get money under this program for any fiscal year, a State must send the Secretary of Education a report by December 31, 1978 about any planning it has done under the program. The report can be any format the State wants and may include plans in six areas: extending career education to everyone in the State; linking school learning to work and community life and matching curricula to real-life needs; testing new career-education ideas and copying ones that work; creating training (including in-service) for teachers, counselors, and administrators; working with community groups and agencies (like public employment services, vocational rehabilitation, mental health agencies, and education opportunity centers) to avoid duplicating services; and listing state, local, and private resources for career education.
