Title 20 › Chapter 48— DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION › Subchapter II— ESTABLISHMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT › § 3425
Creates an Office of Educational Technology inside the Department of Education, led by a Director who reports directly to the Secretary. The Office must lead the nation in using technology to help students meet national and state education goals, work with other federal agencies when needed, review the Department’s programs and training to boost technology use and planning, make policy recommendations, make sure programs match the national long-range technology plan under section 5862(b), and carry out other tasks the Secretary assigns. The Office is the Department’s Office of Educational Technology. The Director is the Director of Educational Technology who runs the Office. The Director may hire staff as needed under the hiring and pay rules in title 5, including chapter 51 and subchapter III of chapter 53. The Secretary may hire experts and consultants under section 3109 of title 5.
