Title 20 › Chapter 48— DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION › Subchapter IV— ADMINISTRATIVE PROVISIONS › Part B— General Administrative Provisions › § 3478
The Secretary may provide, build, or maintain services for Department employees and their dependents at remote locations when those services are not otherwise available. It covers seven kinds of help, including emergency medical care; food, dining, and other subsistence supplies; audiovisual equipment for recreation and training; reimbursements for emergency purchases to help distressed people; living and work quarters; and transport for dependents to nearby schools. The Secretary must charge prices that reflect fair value for medical care and for the food, dining, and audiovisual items, as the Secretary decides. Money repaid to the Department can be put back into the same fund that paid for the services or used to refund excess amounts.
